The senior personnel of the company possess over a hundred years of collective experience in the following fields: geology; geotechnical, environmental and materials engineering, structural engineering, building science technology; inspection and testing, and contract administration.
PRINCIPAL CONSULTING ENGINEER, RAM JAGDAT, HTD, B.A.Sc., P.Eng., QP.
Today, after years of practicing engineering, Ram is recognized as a highly skilled engineer who excels in coming up with innovative solutions for unique and challenging engineering problems. After graduating from the University of Guyana in 1974 with a Diploma in Civil Engineering, he worked in a construction office and then moved on to become the pioneer engineer for the construction of a large housing complex and an access road to a proposed mega hydro power dam in the rainforests of Guyana. There he learned how to supervise skilled technical workers, various subtrades, and the fundamentals of constructing buildings and roads through virgin forest, and overcoming the challenges of working in a remote and secluded environment.
Having gained vital experience in understanding the nuances of running a major construction project, he was hired as a structural bridge design engineer. There he designed Acrow Panel Steel bridges, including the design of the abutments of the worlds longest floating steel bridge (1.25 miles) across the Demerara River in Guyana, South America.
In 1977, he immigrated to Canada and enrolled at the University of Toronto, specializing in Geotechnical Engineering, where he graduated in 1980. Upon graduation, he earned his geotechnical experience by working for the two top geotechnical engineering firms in Canada, Geocon, which later was absorbed in SNC LAVALIN and Trow Group, which was absorbed by EXP. With eight years of training under some distinguished geotechnical engineers in Canada, he founded CESI in 1988 and has steadily expanded the company into several new disciplines. Ram has now acquired vast experience in various fields of engineering, including geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, hydrogeological engineering, structural engineering, building sciences and construction materials inspection and testing.
SPECIALIST STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, TIT CHUNG CHAN, B.Sc., P. ENG.
TC CHAN graduated from the University of CHU HAI of Hong KONG in 1958 with a B. Sc., in Civil Engineering. After practicing as a structural engineer in Hong Kong for ten years, he immigrated to Canada and continued to practice structural engineering. Currently, his experience includes the design of all types of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings; subway tunnels;subway stations; airport hangars; box culverts; silos; and water purification plants.
He has worked in a steel fabrication shop, becoming an expert in the design and fabrication of all types of steel connections and in preparing shop drawings and taking off quantities. TC is well known in the Toronto as one of the most experienced structural engineer, with wide ranging experiences. He is most resourceful in remediating older structures, as he is one of the few engineers around who has seen the older structures when they were initially built and therefore fully understands their design principles. TC is highly appreciated by the firms’s younger structural engineers, as he continuously conveys the intricate details of his hard earned knowledge. His vast experience is an asset to the company.
PRINCIPAL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, MOHAMMAD BOKHTAIR, M. Sc., P. ENG.
Mohammad has years of experience in the field of structural engineering, including international and Canadian experience. Mohammad is in charge of the structural engineers at Canada Engineering Services Inc. He graduated from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1986 and a M. Sc., in 1993.
His career in structural engineering began in 1986 with the design of reinforced concrete beams and two way floor slabs. He is a member of Professional Engineers, Ontario. As the lead structural engineer of Canada Engineering Services Inc., Mohammad has been designing industrial, commercial and residential buildings using steel, reinforced concrete, timber and cold-form steel. His specialty is designing and modifying residential family buildings, as well as designing multistorey buildings.
PRINCIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER, LAWRENCE YU, B. Sc., P. Eng., RSO, QP.
Lawrence graduated with Honours from the University of Toronto with a B. A.Sc., degree in Civil Engineering. He joined Canada Engineering Services Inc. in 2001. Lawrence has been responsible for supervising geotechnical field investigations, and Environmental Phases I and II investigations and has undertaken numerous Records of Site Conditions. Lawrence’s field experience over the past years has included extensive projects in the fields of geotechnical and environmental engineering.
He has carried out geotechnical investigations for diverse structures, including residential, industrial and commercial buildings and subdivision developments. He has also been involved in the construction of many subdivisions in Ontario, servicing them over the usual 5 year post construction maintenance period. In the environmental field, he has undertaken reconnaissances, interviews, data collection and analysis and environmental reporting writing, and finally he files Records of Site Conditions for practically every site the firm undertakes.
